Compact, intuitive media format with capacity to store wide range of game applications, performance to play directly from media, and affordability to collect multiple games
Ability to integrate dynamic data (preferences, characters, landscapes, strategies, cheats, stats, etc.) with game content for instant, play anywhere mobility and transportability between handhelds and consoles
Ability to authenticate gamer for online interactive games, and downloads for game updates and enhancements.

For game developers and content providers:

CD/DVD: While low cost of duplication and capacity are very attractive, write-once technology cannot be updated to store dynamic data, plug-ins, or upgrades for single media play. Not capable of integration with online gaming initiatives and physical size limits the design of portable devices.
Flash Memory: Small size fits well with handheld devices and read/write capability complements the shortcomings of CD/DVD media to store dynamic data. Due to higher cost/MB and media costs, it is used primarily with small (capacity) game applications and handheld devices.
